RBI has announced a total of 650 posts across various regional offices. Major vacancies are distributed among offices such as:

  • ​Mumbai: 249 posts

  • ​Chennai: 53 posts

  • ​Kanpur & Lucknow: 50 posts

  • ​New Delhi: 49 posts

​Eligibility Criteria

​To apply for the RBI Assistant post, candidates must meet the following requirements as of February 01, 2026:

  • ​Age Limit: Between 20 and 28 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved categories (e.g., 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD General/EWS).

  • ​Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. (Pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) .

  • ​Skills: Knowledge of word processing on a PC is required.

  • ​Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in the local language of the state falling under the recruiting office they apply to.

​The selection will be conducted in three stages:

  1. ​Preliminary Examination: Objective test covering English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability (100 marks).

  1. ​Main Examination: Objective test covering Reasoning, English, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge (200 marks).

  1. ​Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates shortlisted from the Main exam must undergo a test in the local language. Failure to be proficient will lead to disqualification.

​Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Starting basic pay of ₹29,000 per month.

  • ​Gross Emoluments: Approximately ₹58,514 per month (excluding HRA).

  • ​Additional Benefits: Includes House Rent Allowance, bank accommodation (subject to availability), medical facilities, and various concessional loans.

  • ​SC/ST/PwBD/EXS: ₹50 + 18% GST (Intimation charges only).

  • ​GEN/OBC/EWS: ₹450 + 18% GST (Application fee including intimation charges).
